This interactive animal shelter, located adjacent to the St. Croix River in downtown Hudson, Wisconsin, feels completely comfortable and warm through many nature-inspired materials. Whimsical architectural elements create an allure for everyone either searching for a new family member or for visitors who frequent the shelter to give the residents some love. Incorporating large skylights and windows not only meets a sustainable goal of natural lighting during the day but also creates beautiful shadows to illuminate a sense of magic during evening hours. Mixing organic inspiration from many different aesthetics, such as cottage and Art Nouveau, leads to an overall charming environment for all end users, four-legged and two-legged, to experience Fairy Tails.
