The library café is located on the shores of Lake Superior in Ashland, WI. The community’s current public library has not seen a renovation since 1983, and updating this beloved library was one of the client's wishes. The client also wanted the public library to become a destination that the community would look forward to visiting. The design achieved this by using glass curtain walls, an interior balcony, interspersed floor transitions, and the addition of a café. This fresh aesthetic has a modest yet sophisticated color palette. Gentle curves throughout the design with moments of emphasis and tranquility keep the library café exciting for all age groups.
