Joanne’s Place is a senior-living home for those who need the extra assistance throughout the day and is located in Waterloo, Iowa. The spatial design is divided strategically, with the main block housing public areas and the corridors primarily including the resident’s rooms, giving them more privacy and escape from noise and other residents. The home encourages movement and stimulation throughout the spaces with a closed loop pathway and considers all weather types that occur in Iowa. By using a delicate connection of light and color throughout public and private spaces, the design executes a comfortable dynamic and sense of home.
